Among the popular names in the list of Indian Scientists, there is one name of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, also known as Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, became 11th President of India and contributed a lot for India in the field of science, education, and society. He was also known as the Missile Man of India.

His incredible contribution and enormous efforts for the country and its people are remarkable. He was enthusiastic towards literature. This ultimate celebrity was the first bachelor to become the president.

Personal Details of Dr. Kalam

Abdul Kalam was basically from Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. His father was a boat holder and imam of the mosque. His mother was a housewife. Kalam was portrayed as a bright and hardworking student. He used to like Mathematics the most. He did his graduation in Physics and expertise in Aeronautical Engineering. He belongs to the poor and modest family. Being from a poor background, Dr. Kalam used to give out the newspaper as a young child. Dr. Kalam was very fond of writing poems. He was keen and dedicated to contributing to the society throughout his lifetime.

Being a Scientist

During the period when he was a good scientist, he joined Indian Space Research Organization. He took charge of India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV III). A Rohini Satellite was installed in the Vehicle and taken close to earth’s orbit. This was one of the most excellent works of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Due to his immense hard work and dedicated mind, he became successful for the growth and progress of AGNI and PRITHVI Missiles. He also became Scientific Advisor to the Defense Minister.

His Awards and Achievements

In 1997, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was awarded Bharat Ratna and Indira Gandhi Award. In 1981, he was awarded Padma Bhushan. After this, he got several other awards such as Padma Vibhushan Award, Veer Savarkar award, King Charles II medal, Hoover Medal, Ramanujan Award etc. He had contributed a lot in the field of science, research, defense and his contribution are unforgettable for the people of India.

Being a Motivator

Besides the measureless contribution to the society, Dr. Kalam became Role Model for the young generations. According to Dr. Kalam, the three key members of a society who can make a vast difference and produce beautiful minds are the father, the mother and the teacher. His motivational speeches have encouraged youth to believe in themselves. He had written several books inspiring the young generation of India. His struggle, his great efforts, his life biography, all these things had made him a true motivator.
